Dance Artist and Educator (she/her)
the breegan dance show :)
the breegan dance show :) is the name of my choreographic project

i love to create dynamic stories on the stage. for me, each dance i create poses a question. through the choreographic process, i try to consider the answer carefully. humor, narrative, and a loving relationship with music are what i rely upon to explore deeper themes within my work.

"A Friendly Toxic Jungle" is a duet created for T2 Dance Company's ColorWheel Project, in which students from the local community submit artwork for the dancers to create pieces about. Here's the artist statement from the program:

"When I saw Dillon’s artwork, I was intrigued by the two figures in the image and wondered to myself, “are they people, or creatures? Or are they plants?” I visualized the dancers as organisms living within a fictional ecology, like an amazing alien forest I made up in my head. I imagined how they would approach each other in the wild, thinking they would probably be wary and cautious at first. And then, I realized that as a choreographer, I can let my imagination do whatever it wants, so why not make them have a little dance party in their friendly toxic jungle?"

A FRIENDLY TOXIC JUNGLE
Winner of the 2024 Audience Choice Award for T2's ColorWheel Project
FRONT OF HOUSE / BACK OF HOUSE
Front of House / Back of House is a site-specific solo which was developed in January 2023 for the inaugural Somebody's Friend Festival. First staged at bustling Ratio Beerworks in the busy RiNo district of Denver, CO, FOH/BOH is about people pleasing, serving others over yourself, and hiding behind a smile. It is based on my time in the service industry, and features a custom designed costume by DJ Judson (they/them). The protagonist, played by Camelia Wilderlove (she/her) attempts to disguise her frantic exhaustion behind a smile as she scurries around a crowded dining room. This piece simultaneously alludes to any relationship in which one partner serves another, particularly a domestic one. Thus, the "house" refers to both the restaurant and a home in which one person is nearly devoured by the day-to-day needs of the other.

IMMACULATE CONSUMPTION
In "Immaculate Consumption," I delve into the frenzied compulsion to constantly acquire new items and the exhilarating rush that comes with each delivery. Through a blend of quirky humor and dynamic movement, I explore the human tendency to consume and the larger issue of overconsumption that threatens our planet. By challenging viewers to reflect on our collective love for "stuff," I hope to spark a dialogue about our responsibility to reduce waste and tread more lightly on the Earth.

OUTSIDE THE LINES (BLACK AND WHITE)
For T2 Dance Company
Outside the Lines (black and white)" is a dynamic solo performance that was created as part of T2 Dance Company's Color Wheel Project. This innovative educational outreach program brings together the worlds of dance and visual art, inspiring students in Boulder, CO to explore their creative impulses through a collaborative process. As part of the Color Wheel Project, students are invited to create a piece of artwork based on their favorite color, while dancers choose one of these pieces to inspire a unique dance performance. For "Outside the Lines (black and white)," I was drawn to a captivating piece of artwork by Shane (3rd grade), which features a riot of wild, swirling lines that evoke a sense of frenzied energy and movement.Inspired by the chaotic yet rhythmic quality of the artwork, I experimented with building tension throughout the solo performance, culminating in a powerful release of frenzied scribbles at the piece's conclusion. The performance invites audiences to embrace the freedom of creative expression and break free from the constraints of conventional expectations, embracing the wild and free-spirited impulses that lie within us all.
